About ClearPathCalc
ClearPathCalc is a free, independent collection of calculators and plain-English guides for everyday money, business, health and home-energy decisions, built on one idea: you should be able to see and check the math behind any number you are asked to trust.
What you will find here
- 34 calculators across personal finance, tax, retirement, business, health and home energy.
- 47 guides in the Journal that work through real examples: whether an extra mortgage payment beats investing, what the end of the solar tax credit changed, when BMI misleads.
Why the formulas are shown
Most calculator sites hand you a number and expect you to trust it. Every ClearPathCalc page names the formula it uses, links the source it comes from, and walks through a worked example you can repeat with a pencil. If you disagree with an assumption, you can see exactly where it enters the result and change it.
Who it is for
People making a decision that deserves more than a guess: homeowners weighing a refinance, freelancers checking what an hour of work actually pays, small teams deciding whether a tool or an ad campaign pays for itself, and anyone trying to make sense of a health number from a checkup. No account, email address or payment is ever required.
How the site is built and checked
Calculators use standard, published methods: loan amortization, the IRS tax brackets, World Health Organization classifications, and peer-reviewed equations such as Mifflin-St Jeor and the U.S. Navy body-fat method. Each one has automated tests that pin its results, and all of them were last reviewed end to end on September 26, 2026. The full list of formulas, sources and changes is on the Methodology page.
Everything runs in your browser. The numbers you type are never sent to us or stored. See the Privacy Policy for the details.
Who runs it
ClearPathCalc is built and maintained independently in the United States. It has no investors, lenders, insurers or product sponsors, and no one pays to influence a calculator or an article.
How it is funded
The site is supported by display advertising from Google AdSense. Ads are kept visually separate from the calculators and articles, and advertisers have no say in the content. That is what keeps every tool free.
Corrections and suggestions
